Neet-friendly inter textbooks to be out soon
The Board of Intermediate Education is all set to roll out revised textbooks for the fresh batch of 10+2 science students to enable them to prepare for the national common entrance tests for medical and engineering admission, namely the Neet and Iseet.
The new textbooks will be available by April 15 for English medium students and by May 15 for Telugu medium students.
While the first Neet for MBBS admissions is scheduled to be held in 2014, the first Iseet, replacing IIT-JEE, AIEEE and others, conducted by state for engineering admissions, will be conducted in 2013, which means the existing Eamcet will lose its relevance completely in two years.
The existing Intermediate textbooks focus on preparing students to face the IIT-JEE, AIEEE, and Eamcet. They were successful in getting students from AP to secure top ranks in these tests in the past several years.
If this success is to continue, the policy changes initiated by the Union ministry of human resource development at 10+2 level must be reflected in a new syllabus and textbooks. Accordingly, several additions and deletions have been made in the existing textbooks to suit the new exams.
