Nimmagadda, Brahmananda in CBI custody

The special court for CBI cases on Thursday sent Nimmagadda Prasad and Brahmananda Reddy to a 10-day CBI custody to enable the investigating agencies for further interrogation in the presence of counsels from both sides. Both the accused would be lodged at Dilkusha Guest house, where CBI is probing the case.

The CBI counsel defended the petition for custody on the grounds that Mr Prasad has shown thrice the amount paid to farmers for acquiring land as the cost and was a mediator to route money from private companies into various companies of Jagan Mohan Reddy through his companies. The CBI told the court that Mr Brahmanand Reddy colluded with Mr Prasad and violated rules. The grave errors in the concessional agreement was due to Mr Reddy, it said.

The principal judge sent the accused to CBI custody with conditions that the questioning should take place in the presence of counsels from both sides and the questioning would be done only from 9.30 am to 5.30 pm. Meanwhile, the CBI has called excise minister Mopidevi Venkat Ramana for the second time for questioning in connection with the case. He was asked to appear before the CBI at Dilkusha Guest House on May 21. The questioning is regarding the GOs pertaining to Vanpic projects.
