No hall tickets, 20,000 students miss Inter exam
The Board of Intermediate Education has decided to issue hall tickets to all students immediately in view of the Andhra Pradesh High Court’s orders after around 20,000 students missed Day 1 of the supplementary exams on Wednesday due to lack of hall tickets.
This will enable students to appear for the remaining exams from Thursday. Many students and parents, however, questioned the decision as thousands of students could not appear for the first day of the exams. They demanded that the physics exam be re-conducted.
The students and parents pointed out that Day 1 was crucial since it was the day for the physics exam in which over 31 per cent students had failed and many had got low marks. Nearly three lakh senior Intermediate students had applied for the physics exam to improve their score while another 1.5 lakh failed students had also applied to clear the paper.
Nearly 20,000 of these students missed the exam as the hall tickets had not been issued by then. Tension prevailed at several examination centres in the city and other districts on Wednesday when students and parents asked for hall tickets and demanded that the students be allowed to appear for the exams. However, the officials denied permission saying that they had no orders to do so.
