No headway in Cyberabad robberies
The police are yet to make headway in the two robberies at Bolaram and Chandanagar in the last eight days, despite forming a joint team to crack the case. In a strikingly similar modus operandi, a seven-member masked gang, wearing sleeveless T-shirts, broke into the two houses and after tying up the family members, decamped with valuables.
Cyberabad police commissioner D. Tirumal Rao said that a gang, comprising people from North India, are suspected to be behind both the incidents. However, the police are yet to confirm if fingerprints collected from both crime spots are of same persons, Mr Tirumal Rao said. “Since both the robberies seemed to have been committed by the same gang, we have decided to conduct a joint investigation with Madhapur zone police,” DCP (Alwal zone) Venkateshwara Rao said. The Cyberabad police have formed a special team to nab the culprits, Mr Venkateshwara Rao said. One team has been sent to Maharashtra, he added. Meanwhile, a Maruti Zen stolen from a house in Doyen’s Colony, Chandanagar, was found abandoned near Miyapur old police station on Wednesday.
