OMC Case: HC rejects Rajagopal's bail plea
The Andhra High Court on Monday rejected the bail plea of VD Rajagopal, former Managing Director of Mines Department, in the Obulapuram Mining Company's illegal iron-ore mining case.
Rajagopal, who was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation on November 13, applied for bail stating that the investigation in the case was completed and the CBI has already filed the charge sheet.
However, his bail plea was opposed by the investigating agency.
After hearing the arguments and counter-arguments, the court rejected his bail petition on Monday.
Mopidevi was arrested on the charges of playing a role in preferential treatment to the OMC in grant of leases overlooking other bidders.
He was also accused of not taking steps to check illegal transportation of iron ore by the OMC. Since his arrest, he is lodged in Chanchalguda Central Jail, although he was granted an interim bail for 15-days in October following demise of his father in-law.
