Opposition to avoid debates, stall house
Not much official business is expected to get done when the state Assembly meets from Monday for five days with the principal Opposition parties already talking about stalling the proceedings rather than debating issues. The House, if permitted to run, has serious business to transact and is scheduled to debate issues ranging from the unprecedented energy crisis, agriculture, drought conditions and others.
The Business Advisory Committee which met under the chairmanship of Speaker N. Manohar has also decided to introduce two Bills. But principal Opposition Telugu Desam on Sunday indicated its mood by boycotting the BAC to protest against the government for restricting the session to just five days. The TD, which is planning to highlight corruption once again, will insist on the removal of ministers who had received SC notices in corruption cases including Mr Dharmana Prasada Rao, who has already been chargesheeted.
