Ponnala summoned by CBI on June 7
The CBI has summoned IT minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah for examination in the illegal investments case against Jagan Mohan Reddy on June 7. Mr Lakshmaiah would be appearing before the CBI for the first time, while one of his colleagues Mopidevi Venkataramana, has been arrested and others like Dharmana Prasada Rao and P. Sabita Reddy have been grilled several times.
The CBI has included the issue of two GOs by the irrigation department, the portfolio Mr Lakshmaiah held in the YSR regime, in the FIR in Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy’s case. The two orders pertain to allocation of water from the Kagna river to India Cements located in Tandur of Ranga Reddy district. The CBI has examined Aditya Nath Das, who issued the orders in his capacity as irrigation secretary. The government in both the orders said that the allocation would be within the permitted limit of 6 TMC water for industrial use in the area and should not affect the lower or upper riparian rights.
