Poor facilities upset bonalu organisers

Tempers ran high at the government-organised review meeting for the forthcoming Ashada Jatara on Tuesday. The committee members of various Mahankali Temples in the city, particularly from the old city accused the government departments of having failed to take up developmental works around the temples even as the month-long festival of Bonalu is all set to begin in Golconda from June 21 with the commencement of Ashada Masam. While the main Bonalu festival will be celebrated on June 24 in Golconda, the Lashkar Bonalu in Secunderabad will be held at Ujjaini Mahankali temple on July 8 and 9 followed by celebrations in the old city on July 15 and 16.

Committee members from various temples confronted officials of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation , Water Board, Central Discom and Roads and Buildings about bad roads, no garbage clearance, poor street lighting, lack of water supply and power cuts.
