Praful tops list of wealthy mantris

Union minister for heavy industries and public industries Praful Patel is among the richest Cabinet members with assets of more than Rs 100 crore. Mr Patel and his wife's net value increased from about Rs 98 crore last year to over Rs 101 crore this year. He has immovable property worth Rs 91 crore with two houses and a plot in Gujarat, four floors of commercial and residential property in Mumbai and shares in two more plots.

Among members of the Cabinet from the state, Union minister for petroleum and natural gas S. Jaipal Reddy owns a house each in Hyderabad and Mahbubnagar, apart from 43 acres of agricultural land in Madgul mandal in the district. His bank balance, however, decreased from Rs 6 lakh to less than Rs 4 lakh. He had a housing loan worth around Rs 17 lakh last year which he has cleared since then. His wife, meanwhile, has jewellery worth Rs 7,50,000 and about Rs 10 lakh in the bank apart from owning a vehicle. Mr Reddy didn't provide the valuation of his property.

MoS for defence M.M. Pallam Raju has net assets worth about Rs 4 crore of which immovable property is worth about Rs 89 lakh. Last year his assets were worth about Rs 3 crore. On other hand, MoS for textiles Panabaaka Lakshmi declared assets almost half of what she had declared last year. Her net value this year is about Rs 4.82 crore while last year it was Rs 9.54 crore. Her movable assets are worth Rs 1.86 crore this year compared to Rs 1.78 crore last year. She declared the value of her immovable property to be nearly Rs 3 crore while last year it was Rs 7.76 crore although the properties are the same.

MoS for HRD D. Purandeswari and her husband held net assets worth nearly Rs 14 crore with her share being Rs 6.71 crore. Last year, she and her husband held assets worth Rs 22.74 crore in which her share was Rs 10.34 crore. She has a house in Banjara Hills and four acres of land in Sherilingampally. Defence minister A.K. Antony is one of the poorest with assets worth just Rs 55 lakh.
