Publish MBBS merit list: HC
In a significant move on admissions to private medical colleges under management quota, the Andhra Pradesh High Court on Friday directed the NTR University of Health Sciences to publish the merit list submitted by all the medical colleges in respect of ‘C’ category seats and place it before the court by next Friday. A division bench comprising Justice V. Eswariah and Justice N. Ravi Shankar issued the order.
The bench was dealing with a plea by M. Yashaswee Reddy and four others who were seeking admission under management quota. They stated that they had submitted their applications in response to an advertisement by the Apollo Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad, inviting applications. They secured 938, 935, 956, 934 and 916 marks out of 1,000 respectively in the Intermediate, and yet their names were not on the merit list prepared by the Apollo Institute, that was sent to NTR University.
They complained to the court that certain candidates, who had secured less marks, have been included in the merit list. The court directed NTR University to present the action-taken report before it on the complaint of the petitioners against the Apollo Institute within a week. In another case, the bench directed the MCI to conduct a fresh inspection of Osmania Medical College and submit a report to the court for its perusal. The bench was dealing with an appeal by the MCI against an order of the single judge to sanction 50 additional seats to the college for the current academic year. The case has been posted to September 24.
