There’s more trouble in store for Intermed-iate students in AP after their poor show in the Inter (second year) physics paper. Around 500 Inter MPC students face the risk of losing seats in BITS-Pilani campuses as they fell short of the 60 per cent qualifying marks in physics. A large number of students got less marks than they expected. As per eligibility norms of BITS-Pilani, for admission to any of the Integrated First Degree Programmes, the candidate should have obtained a minimum of 75 per cent aggregate marks in physics, chemistry and mathematics subjects in the 12th class examination and at least 60 per cent marks in each of the physics, chemistry, and maths subjects in addition to securing merit in entrance exam BITSAT.

Though many students got over 90 per cent marks in Inter maths and chemistry papers, they failed to secure 60 per cent marks in physics. Also, the second year students have no option to write improvement exams as part of advanced supplementary exams to begin from May 23, since BIE allows only failed students to appear for supplementary exams. The failing of over 1.4 lakh students in physics is feared to have an impact on B.Tech admissions this year.
