RTC racing against time
Speaking on Allahabad High Court’s order against Shimnit Utsch Private Limited, transport minister Botsa Satyanarayana said, “I have ordered an inquiry and directed the Andhra Pradesh Road Transport Corporation officials to take serious note of the Allahabad High Court’s order.” The APSRTC is the executing agency of the high-security number plates in the state.
He said the officials have also been directed to look out for any possible illicit transactions before the bidding process is sealed. The owner Shimnit Utsch, Mr Nitin Shah, had earlier been jailed for fraud after he was allegedly found charging 320 per cent more than the actual cost of the high-security number plates.
Significantly, the development comes at a time when the tender process was expected to be sealed over the next fortnight. The APSRTC is, meanwhile, racing against time to meet the Supreme Court’s deadline to “implement” the venture by this month-end. Shimnit Utsch India Private Limited made the bid for the project in AP in league with Teric Utsch, Germany. The other bidders are Celex Technologies Private Limited (in partnership with SGS Securities India Private Limited), Utsav Safety Securities Technology Private Limited (with Linkwell Infrastructure Private Limited), and Temmjes Eastern Securities Private Limited (with HAL Overseas Private Limited).
