Satyavathi’s kin await body, unhappy with pace of probe
The family of Satyavathi, who was murdered by unknown people in a Philadelphia township on Monday morning, is still waiting for her body to arrive. Satyavathi’s 10-month-old grand-daughter Sravya was abducted in the same incident.
Minister for municipal administration and urban development, Manugunta Mahidhar Reddy, and Kanigiri MLA, Mukku Ugranarsimha Reddy, have asked the state government to step in and facilitate bringing Saty-avathi’s body for her last rites.
Mr Ugranarsimha Reddy also assured his full cooperation to the family members in tracing the kidnapped infant. He added that he had asked the Union and state governments to intervene in this issue and to put further pressure on the American government.
Meanwhile, Satyavathi’s son-in-law Vempati Srini-vas Reddy said that they were distressed about the slow pace of investigation by the American police in tracing Saanvi. Saanvi’s parents had moved to King of Prussia in Pennsy-lvania in June this year.
Satyavathi’s cousin B. Venkateswara Reddy said that the body was expected to arrive in Hyderabad by Saturday night and the funeral would be held on Sunday at Kudumula-kunta village.
