Six ministers and eight IAS officers received notices from the Supreme Court on Friday in connection with the ongoing CBI probe into the assets case of Kadapa MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy.

The apex court asked the respondents to submit their views on whether the plea filed by Nellore advocate Sudhakar Reddy should be heard or not.

The petitioner had approached the apex court seeking a direction to the CBI to probe the role of ministers and bureaucrats in issuing orders in favour of several private firms which are facing charges of making quid pro quo investments in Jagan’s firms.

The ministers who rece-ived notices are Ponnala Lakshmaiah (IT), Kanna Lakshminarayana (agriculture), Dharmana Prasada Rao (R&B), P. Sabita Reddy (home), Dr J. Geeta Reddy (industries) and Mopidevi Venkataramana (excise).

Notices were also issued to bureaucrats S.V. Prasad, B. Sam Bob, M. Samuel, Aditya Nath Das, Manmo-han Singh, Y. Srilakshmi, K. Ratna Prabha and C.V.S.K. Sarma.

Sources said replies have to be filed within 30 days from receiving the notices and the court has stated that an ex parte decision would be taken if the recipients chose not to respond.

The Supreme Court asked the ministers and bureaucrats to file their replies either in person or through Advocates on Record appointed by them.

The recipients, however, are clueless as to their response. Till date, the state has avoided getting involved in the assets case as justifying the orders of the previous YSR government might weaken the quid pro quo charges against the Kadapa MP.

Sources said that Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy had indicated that the state would provide assistance but it would be left to the individuals to file their replies.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.
