SC rejects Pahelwan’s bail
The Supreme Court on Friday set aside the bail of Mohammed Bin Omer Yafai, alias Mohammed Pahelwan, prime accused in the attack on MIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi. The court gave him four weeks to get fresh relief from the Andhra Pradesh High Court. According to Central Crime Station police, the accused cannot be arrested before the four-week time is over. Pahelwan has been directed to approach High Court if he wants any relief.
Central Crime Station police had arrested Mohammed Pahelwan and some of his family members after the attack on Mr Owaisi at Chandrayangutta on April 30, last year. Mohammed Pahelwan was granted bail last September. The apex court gave the orders on Friday on an appeal filed by the state government, seeking cancellation of bail granted to Mohammed Pahelwan and eight others accused in the attack.
