SC slams inaction on T-goondaism
The Supreme Court on Wednesday came down heavily on the AP government for not responding to its notice regarding its failure to rein in Telangana agitators who had indulged in “sheer goondaism and vandalism” in the AP High Court premises during their September 2010 stir.
It questioned the state whether its “silence” was to be construed as support to what had happened. The strong comments came from a Bench of Justices G.S. Singhvi and S.J. Mukhopadhaya after the state government failed to file affidavits giving details regar-ding the incident.
The High Court administration, in its affidavit, had stated how the lawyers had entered the court rooms in session and threatened advocates pleading cases, hurled chairs and had switched off lights. The HC affidavit had also stated that some lawyers had even “misbehaved” with judges.
