Sex workers find military area safe
The vast stretches of quiet and deserted military areas are the popular haunt of sex workers both male and female, military authorities have realised to their dismay. The authorities have woken up to the problem and ordered the offending areas to be fenced off. Sources revealed that the deserted area near the cavalry barracks close to the railway station, Lothkunta, the vacant land and the area planted with orchards etc., close to the National Security Guards (NSF) hub, spots close to the AOC centre and certain locations close to the Signals’ establishments are being used by sex workers for striking deals with civilians.
“Unlike elsewhere, the activity and vigil of police in the military area is little and Army officials busy with their schedules are not much of a threat to these sex workers. But enough is enough! Despite having been given warnings and chased away from the place, these guys keep on coming back again for striking deals,” said an official. He said that many of these areas have been fenced off and declared out of bounds. Part-time workers are also not encouraged to hang around in the area once their work is over. “Such activities in addition to being an eye sore in full public view are also a major security threat as per intelligence reports,” said another official.
