Sharmila, a ray of hope for YSRC

At Narasannapeta, Ms Vijayalakshmi and Ms Sharmila Reddy were greeted by a huge multitude of people on Wednesday.

The rooftops were chock a block with people waiting to catch a glimpse of the family and the area was choked for two hours before the road show started at YSR's statue in Marutinagar.

Wondering why YSR was flown in bad weather, Ms Y.S. Vijayalakshmi said that there was a conspiracy behind the crash which had to be answered by those in power. She added that the doubts had always remained with her though many had tried to convince her that it was an accident.

“He (YSR) had even asked why that helicopter had been arranged before getting into it. There was no digital map in the helicopter to show the route,” Ms Vijayalakshmi said.

She reminded the gathering that YSR would always think about the welfare of the poor and downtrodden, and added it was only her son who could implement all the welfare schemes introduced by his father as they were being neglected by the present state government despite lakhs of crores of rupees being allotted for them.

Ms Sharmila said the family was in Payakaraopeta only to tell the people about the injustice meted out to them.

Amid thunderous applause, she appealed to voters to make her brother the CM by voting for YSR Congress in the coming bypolls to bring back their father's golden rule.

“It is the responsibility of the governments at the state and the Centre to spell out the facts. Heads of the governments have been repeatedly saying that there was no such plot to kill him (YSR). Now they have illegally arrested my son. Whom do we believe? You decide,” Ms Vijayalak-shmi said.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
