Sharmila to walk with black badge
On October 18, when she begins her padayatra, Y.S. Sharmila Reddy will wear a black badge, which she will wear throughout her 3,000 km walkathon that starts from the YSR Memorial in Idupulapaya in Kadapa district.
Announcing the first five-day tour schedule on Sunday, YSR Congress MLA Bhumana Karunakar Reddy said the padayatra is a protest march to highlight the failures of the state government.
“The 3,000 km padayatra will turn a new leaf in the polity of the state as no woman has so far ventured into such a programme.
The opportunistic and nexus politics of Congress and TD will be the focal point of the padayatra,” Reddy said.
On October 18, a public meeting will be held at Idupulapaya to kickstart the padayatra, which will proceed uninterrupted over the next six months, he said. The protest march will traverse Kadapa, Anantapur and Kurnool districts in the first phase.
“On the first day of the padayatra, Sharmila will walk for 14.5 km in Kadapa district,” said Reddy, who is a member of the coordinating committee along with K. Sridhar Reddy and Putta Pratap.
“Instead of raising the issue on the Floor of the house and moving a 'no trust motion', the TD has opted to go on a padayatra criticising the Congress.
This only speak of the clear nexus between the it and the Congress,” Reddy said.
