SHRC plans crackdown on pub culture in city
With the rise in incidents of youth being caught partying till daybreak at pubs, the State Human Rights Commission has decided to take a suo moto cognisance of media reports and crack down on the pub culture in the city. K. Peda Peri Reddy, commission member (non-judicial), seems to have taken a serious note of the recent incidents like 81 people were taken into custody from a pub in Banjara Hills for partying till 4.30 am and minors being allowed to consume alcohol.
Mr Reddy said a suo moto case will be registered on Thursday and notices will be sent. “I do not understand this culture. The system has become all bad. The European pub culture seems to be seeping into our culture. I also fail to understand how the parents of these children are allowing it to happen,” said Mr Reddy. The SHRC will take suo moto cognisance of the media reports on July 12.
