Srilakshmi alleges victimisation bid
Senior IAS officer Y. Srilakshmi has told the CBI court that there was a deliberate move to make her a scapegoat in the mining case.
In her bail petition filed on Thursday, her counsel said that the controversy relating to the omission of the “captive mining” clause from the GO was a story invented by the CBI for the purpose of safeguarding the interests of some persons, and there was no truth in it.
“As per records, the aspect of 'captive use' was mentioned by one of the applicants, the Obulapuram Mining Company Limited, and only in the context of evaluating the relative merits the same was mentioned as an additional factor. The whole story surrounding the issue was a total distortion of facts and circumstances,” the defense counsel said.
She maintained that “No GO can be issued notifying that mining is to be undertaken only for captive use, as per Supreme Court guidelines and Government of India orders, as it’s against the very concept of mineral development.”
The bail petition was filed as the Supreme Court had recently directed the petitioner to approach the trial court for bail while hearing her Special Leave Petition challenging the High Court’s order to cancel her bail granted by a lower court.
The case will be heard next on April 17.
