Srilakshmi may undergo surgery soon

IAS officer Y. Srilakshmi, who is in the Chanchalguda prison in connection with the Obulapuram mining scam, may have to undergo an operation soon, jail officials said. According to the Chanchalguda women’s jail superintendent, Ms Lakshmi had been complaining of ill health, body pain, shortness of breath and inability to walk for the past two weeks.

On the advise of a doctor from the Osmania General Hospital, who has been treating her, the jail authorities took Ms Srilakshmi to Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (Nims) in Punjagutta, where medical tests were conducted. While the reports are yet to arrive, doctors said she may have to undergo an operation. Ms Lakshmi will be taken to Nims again on Wednesday.
