State to probe tender for hi-security number plates
Taking serious note of Allahabad High Court’s order against Shimnit Utsch Private Limited, one of the bidders for the high-security number plates project in the state, transport minister Botsa Satyanarayana has ordered an inquiry into the company’s bid.
The Mumbai-based firm had earlier bid for a similar project in Allahabad. The Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court subsequently ordered a CBI probe after a scam in the bidding process came to light. The company, denied contracts in Karnataka, Goa and Rajasthan, is among the four consortiums that bid for the project in Andhra Pradesh. Mr Satyanarayana said on Saturday that he has heard about the company being charged with adopting fraudulent means to get contracts in the past.
