Sub-panel constituted on SC, ST fund utilisation
Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar on Tuesday annou-nced that a Cabinet sub-committee will be constituted to study and suggest measures to draft a legislation for cent per cent utilisation of funds allocated by various departments for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes under SC sub-plan and Tribal sub-plan .
The CM announced in the Assembly that the sub-committee will submit its report within two months. A two-day special session of the House will also be convened to discuss the report if a discussion cannot take place during a regular session, he said.
The sub-committee, before submitting its report to the government, will hold discussions with the stake holders, the Planning Commission, the finance and legal departments and take their suggestions into consideration. It would study in detail the allocations, utilisation and non-usage of funds meant for the SCs and STs and find out the reasons for non-spending or diversion of funds. Further, the committee would also suggest the legal framework to be adopted for the implementation of sub-plan.
Subsequent to the announcement, the members of SC/ST Struggle Committee who were staging a dharna at Indira Park, called of their agitation after Deputy CM D. Raja Narasimha visited the Dharna Chowk and in-formed them of the CM’s statement in the House.
