Sulking DL out to embarrass Kiran
Sulking over the state Cabinet rejecting the CBI’s request to prosecute roads and buildings minister Dharmana Prasada Rao, medical and health minister D.L. Ravindra Reddy is out to embarrass Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy further.
Dr Ravindra Reddy on Wednesday met Assembly Speaker Nadendla Manohar and informed him that he will not be attending the two-day Assembly session scheduled to start from Friday.
The normal practice would be that any minister who not attending a Session should inform about his absence to the Chief Minister in writing.
In turn, the Chief Minister writes to the Presiding Officers of both the Houses conveying to them that the business listed against the minister would be dealt with by any other minister nominated by him.
Besides not informing the Chief Minister, Dr Ravindra Reddy also did not inform Government Chief Whip Gandra Venkata Ramana Reddy about his absence. It is mandatory for a member to inform the Chief Whip about his or her absence.
Mr Venkata Ramana Reddy will issue a three-line Whip to all Congress MLAs on Thursday, asking them to attend the Session without fail and participate in the debate and voting on the SC ST sub-plan Bill.
It is not known whether Dr Ravindra Reddy would formally meet the Chief Minister and inform him that he would not be attending the Session or write a letter.
But sources close to Dr Ravindra Reddy said that the medical and health minister will meet Gove-rnor E.S.L. Narasimhan and complain against the Chief Minister for not recording his dissent on the decision of Cabinet to reject the CBI plea requesting prosecution against Mr Dharmana Prasada Rao.
