Summer, power cuts heat up city
Heat-wave-like conditions are likely in the state in a couple of days. While the maximum temperatures in the city and in some districts fell by a degree or two in the last few days, the highest temperature was recorded at Adilabad (44O C). The city recorded 40.5O C, a drop of 1.5O since Saturday. At Nizamabad too, the maximum temperatures fell from 44 to 42 OC.
Assistant Meteorolo-gical officer R.V. Subba Rao said, “The slight drop in day temperature is due to the formation of a trough over Chhattisgarh and Telangana regions. But temperatures will remain three to four degrees above normal and a heat-wave-like situation may prevail over Telangana and southern coastal AP.” “There’s also no chance of rainfall in Telangana or Rayalaseema region though there might be light rain in the coastal districts,” he said. Besides the heat that kept most people indoors till afternoon on Sunday, the frequent power cuts also added to the people’s woes.
