T will be NDA’s priority: Shahnawaz
Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain on Sunday said that the NDA’s first decision, if voted back to power, would be the creation of a separate Telangana state. “The party is totally committed to statehood for Telangana and the NDA’s first decision, if voted to power, would be to carve out Telangana region as a separate state,” he said. Mr Hussain, who along with actor-politician Kota Srinivasa Rao, was roped by the BJP for its concluding bypoll campaign rally at Parkal, was addressing the media before leaving for Parkal Assembly constituency to campaign.
Without naming either the TRS or the Congress, the former Union minister said “Some political parties have been playing with the sentiments of Telangana people. However, the people have now identified the parties who have been deceiving them in the name of separate state. The people have full faith in the BJP. Our party has raised the Telan-gana issue in Parliament, but the Congress has no time to discuss it in Parli-ament. Whenever they visit the state, they keep talking about separate statehood for Telangana, just to deceive the people.”
He accused the Telugu Desam of scuttling the creation of Telangana by opposing the demand during the rule of the NDA. “The TD, which extended support to the NDA government, had opposed it,” Mr Hussain said. He expressed confidence that the BJP would win the Parkal seat.
