Telangana state solution on anvil
Congress president Sonia Gandhi has given enough hints to Telangana Congress MPs that the UPA and the Congress would announce a decision on Telangana statehood very soon.
Telangana Congress MPs met the Congress president on Thursday at the Congress Parliamentary Party office in Parliament and requested her to end the Telangana crisis, and make an official statement on the issue without delay.
However, the Telangana Congress MPs were not ready to disclose on record what exactly Mrs Gandhi told them. However, sources said that when the MPs met the Congress president individually, she reportedly conveyed to them that the Congress central leadership was already seized off the matter and very soon a decision will be announced.
The Telangana MPs who continued protests inside the Lok Sabha, however, have not changed their mind to interrupt the Lok Sabha on Friday, the last working day of the Lok Sabha before it adjourns.
It is also learnt that the AICC general secretary in-charge of AP Affairs, Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad reportedly started taking opinions from party leaders on the issue. He is also consulting party MPs from all the three regions on the issue. He also hinted that the Congress and the UPA will not like to delay the decision any further and will announce it soon.
As reported in these columns, almost immediately after the Budget session concludes, the Congress leadership will invite both the Chief Minister, the PCC chief and other key leaders and hold talks before making an announcement.
