Telugu Desam: Jagan being shielded
Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday alleged that the Congress is trying to keep away YSR Congress president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy from the charge-sheet to be filed by the CBI before a local court in the illegal assets case and save him from going to jail.
“Rumours are agog that Mr Jaganmohan Reddy, who is accused No. 1 in the illegal assets case, may not be arrested as part of a deal between him and the Congress. Immediately after the arrest of Gali Janardhan Reddy, he ran to Delhi and met the PM to buy peace,” Mr Naidu said.
Stating that the TD would take up both a legal and political battle if the MP is not arrested like other IAS officers, he said the government should immediate seize all illegal properties owned by him and put him behind bars without further delay.
He added, “Mr Jaganmohan Reddy should have been arrested first and the rest later. He is the main beneficiary of the YSR government’s loot.”
Referring to the CAG report, the TD chief demanded that the state government cancel all the arbitrary land allotments made to various companies by the YSR government, seize illegal properties and invoke the Revenue Recovery Act to recover public funds siphoned off by Mr Jaganmohan Reddy and others.
Mr Naidu also wanted the government to return lands acquired from farmers and in case the companies failed to take up projects they got the lands for.
