Telugus seen as ‘thieves’ due to Congress: Naidu
Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday said Telugus are being looked down upon as “thieves” by the people elsewhere in the country, following the spate of scams under the Congress rule here. The TD chief was speaking at a function here on Wednesday to welcome businessman K. Ramreddy along with 500 workers into the party. “I feel pained at the degradation of the people of AP in the eyes of others. Thanks to the Congress, the state is seen today as a place of rowdyism, land grabbing, and corruption. We have corrupt ministers and they are involved in acts as worse as bootlegging,” he said.
Mr Naidu announced the setting up of a party committee to look into minorities issues’ on the lines of his BC declaration. Referring to power blackout across the North, he expressed surprise at the failure of the respective state governments to ensure uninterrupted power supply.
“AP never witnessed a power blackout during the TD rule," he pointed out. Demanding a review of the Polavaram project tenders and placing of all files before the Speaker, he said the government was planning to give an additional Rs 500 crore to contractors in the name of cost escalation. Later, Mr Naidu hosted an Iftar party for Muslims.
