Terror cases haunt family
Terror conspiracy cases continue to haunt the family of Moulana Naseeruddin, the former chief of Tehrek Thafuz Shaer-e-Islam. Ubaidur Rehman, who was arrested by the Bengaluru cops, happens to be related to Naseeruddin.
AP, MP, Karnataka and Gujarat police have booked conspiracy cases against Naseeruddin’s family members. Some of them have been acquitted. However, two terror suspects — Chota Sajeed and Najiullah — are absconding. Police suspects they are operating out of Pakistan or Saudi Arabia.
Naseeruddin was arrested by Gujarat police in 2004 in a conspiracy case and was released in 2010 after being acquitted. He was also arrested in an alleged plot to blast a Ganesh temple at Secunderabad.
His son Muqeemuddin Yasir, who was arrested on July 15, 2008, is an MBA dropout. He was arrested for attacking cops. Another son Raziuddin Nasir was arrested in Hubli. Naseer-uddin’s another son, Mohammed Baleequiddin was booked for his alleged links with SIMI. DJS former chief Mehboob Ali is also related to Naseerudin.
Tahera Khatoon, Ubaidur Rehman’s grandmother said, “Cops have been filing cases against our family members for the past 15 years. They are falsely implicated.”
Civil Liberties Monitoring Committee general secretary Lateef Mohammed Khan also said, “The police statement on the arrests is far from truth. We are going to seek the PM’s intervention.”
