Timber godown up in flames

A fire broke out at a timber factory at Mallapur, New Narasimhangar Colony, on Sunday afternoon. A godown containing wooden panels was gutted in the fire. No casualties were reported in the accident. Fire officials said the control room received a call at 2.55 pm about the fire at the Vigneshwara-Samuel Timber Depot at New Narasimhanagar Colony. Immediately, a fire tender from Moula Ali fire station rushed to the spot and started operations. Later, two other fire tenders from the Secunderabad fire station and Malkajgiri joined in. It took two hours to bring the blaze under control. “We think a short circuit ignited the fire. The loss has not yet been ascertained,” Malkajgiri fire officer Sambamurthy said.
