Traders expect crowds on last day of Ramzan

With the news of the moon not being sighted, Muslims rushed to the mosques to offer the last day of Taraveeh prayers this Ramzan month.

At many mosques in the old city, Isha prayers were delayed by about half-an-hour so that confirmation whether the moon was sighted or not was received.

One more day of fasting Ramzan came as a much-needed boon for traders and commercial establishments as Ramzan shopping reached its crescendo.

“The city will witness crores of rupees worth business due to Ramzan shopping on Sunday. We are expecting a huge rush as the last day of Ramzan is Sunday,” said a Shaik Isa Al-Amoudi, a cloth trader.

All the showrooms in old city and new city remained opened beyond midnight. Milk vendors at booths set up on the eve of Id to cater to the extra demand on the festival day, were seen anxiously calling up their contacts to ascertain if the moon was sighted.
