TRS leaders camp in Delhi, see ray of hope
The Telangana Rashtra Samiti is confident of a breakthrough soon on the impasse over the T-issue even as feverish parleys continue in the national capital.
TRS chief K. Chand-rasekhar Rao, who is camping along with party leaders, including son K. T. Rama Rao, daughter Kavita, politburo member B. Vinod Kumar and others, are all reportedly planning to stay for some more days for talks with the Congr-ess high command.
Mr Rao, who is yet to spell out party support for the TJAC Telangana March on September 30, is trying his best to defuse the situation and coax the Congress to come clear on Telangana before the mega rally on the eve of the international biodiversity meet in Hyderabad.
Back in Hyderabad, Telangana Vidyarthi Parishat activists disrupted a meeting of the Samaikhya Andh-ra Samiti at the Bashe-erbagh Press Club for opposing the Telang-ana march in view of the biodiversity meet while police blocked a warm-up T-rally and took several activists into custody.
Mr Rao met Union minister Vayalar Ravi twice in the course of the past week while party leaders met Union home minister Sushilkumar Shinde.
“We are interacting with the Congress central leadership. Discussions are still on. We are confident of a breakthrough,” Mr Vinod Kumar told this newspaper.
Though Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Mr Azad and Mr Shinde underlined the need for consensus and more discussions on Telangana, TRS leaders assert that a decision is only a matter of time.
“Mr Rao is directly in touch with Soniaji. We expect a positive result,” said a senior party leader. “I can't reveal, but there are positive signs,” said Ms Kavita.
