TRS sore over Vijayalakshmi fast

YSR Congress leader Y.S. Vijayalakshmi’s proposed deeksha for the cause of weavers at Sircilla in Karimnagar district has kicked up a row with the TRS.

The party objected to Ms Vijayalakshmi’s deeksha and also the release of waters from Srisailam for delta farms.

TRS MLA K. T. Rama Rao alleged that Ms Vijayalakshmi’s was a political deeksha and wondered if she knew the difference between the jute industry and the handloom industry.

Mr Rama Rao questioned Ms Vijayalakshmi sitting on deeksha without the YSRC announcing its stand on Telangana.

“There is no need for Andhra leaders to shed crocodile tears. We can solve our own problems," he said.
The TRS MLA alleged that the number of suicides by weavers had shot up during YSR regime as he failed to keep his pro-mises made to weavers.

“Ms Vijayalakshmi promises to bring back Rajanna Rajyam (YSR golden rule). Does she mean she will bring back weavers’ suicides again?" he asked.
