TSR homecoming turns memorable
By all accounts, it was a memorable homecoming experience for Rajya Sabha member and Congress nominee for Nellore Lok Sabha seat T. Subbarami Reddy when he visited his birthplace, Kotthur village in Indukurpeta mandal of Nellore district on Saturday. Not only the entire village, but over 500 persons from Jagadevipeta turned up to welcome the son of the soil, who returned to the tiny village after a decade-long gap.
TSR’s mother, Rukmina-mma belongs to Kotthur village while his father, Babu Reddy, hails from nearby Jagadevipeta village. D. Srinivasulu Reddy of Jagadevipeta recalled his association with the Tikkavarapu family and credited TSR with providing Rs 25 lakh for the construction of a community hall in the village. “He asked us the requirements for the village when we met him some five years back in Hyderabad. When we told him we needed a community hall, he gave a cheque for Rs 25 lakh without a second thought,” Mr Srinivasulu Reddy said.
Y. Abboy Reddy of Jagadevipeta said the voters of Indukurpeta mandal will back TSR not only because of his roots but also because, “We are proud of his achievements in all fields. We feel it is our own accomplishment. We may have different political affiliations, but in this election, we are going to support TSR as he is our man and we all believe that he will develop Nellore on the lines of Visakhapatnam.”
Addressing the villagers, a nostalgic TSR recalled his childhood, spent on the Mypadu beach and mango gardens in the village. Applause resounded in the village when he emotionally said that he was indebted to his motherland and would fulfil his obligations. Crediting his success in all spheres to his devotional bent of mind, TSR said that his love for fellow humans was the key. The youth cheered him when he said that he was younger than them. His speech in Hindi was well received by the large number of Muslims present.
