Two CSI groups fight for control
A fight between two groups to gain control over the Church of South Indian Medak Diocese kicked off a controversy in the city on Saturday. Tensions mounted at the CSI diocese office near Keys High School under Gopalpuram police station limits in Secunderabad. Cops were deployed to avert any untoward incidents.
A group opposing bishop T.S. Kanaka Prasad claimed that he was suspended by the synod office of Chennai. However the bishop’s group denied the allegations stating that a court order is already in vogue staying any interference of the Chennai synod in the Medak Diocese affairs.
Deputy moderator Daiva Ashirvadam said, “T.S. Kanaka Prasad has been suspended on corruption allegation after a primary inquiry conducted by the CSI executive Synod head office, Chennai. A resolution was passed by the synod officials on April 24 based on which on June 8 we issued suspension orders.” However, William Carry, T.S. Kanaka Prasad’s son, said, “The city civil court has issued an order to maintain status quo till June 5 to grant interim injunction restraining the respondents acting on behalf of the bishop and the council members.”
