U.S. national’s rape case kept in cold storage
The state police has made no headway in the rape case involving a US national in Banjara Hills. The 25-year old American, who was working as a nutritionist in the Clinton Foundation and was living in a rented house at Road No. 11, Banjara Hills. She was raped at knifepoint on July 7, 2010.
The rapist was masked and he spoke broken English. Banjara Hills assistant commissioner of police E. Shankar Reddy said that they had not closed the case. “The probe is on. Whenever suspects are caught in related cases we are interrogating them.” As the victim returned to the US, the police has not taken too much interest in the case. Initially, several suspects were picked up, but no breakthrough was made.
A medical examination proved that she was raped and police registered a case, but the Clues team failed to collect any evidence. Then police commissioner A.K. Khan had announced they would nab the culprit but the case has been in cold storage.
