The government has sanctioned the prosecution of VHP leader Dharmendra Acharya, a native of Rajasthan, TD corporator Thakur Raja Singh and several other BJP leaders involved in the communal riots of 2010. Lala Pahelwan of Begum Bazaar, BJP city president Vekat Reddy, BJP corporator Vaikuntam, Govind Rathi of Sultan Bazaar and Nirmal Dhalia are the other leaders involved in the riots. Permission for prosecution was also accorded in another case in Azjalgunj police station for promoting enmity between two groups, rioting and unlawful, illegal assembly.

In another case, permission was accorded for prosecution for rioting, promoting religious hatred and criminal conspiracy against Ram Yadav alias Laddu of Begum Bazaar, Yogesh Vaishnov, Laxminarayana Yadav, Raj Gopal of Begum Bazaar and Raj Gopal Yadav of Mangalhat. Cases have also been booked in Shahy Inayatgunj police station under the Prevention of Public Properties Damages Act.
