Vijay Sai back in judicial custody
Jagathi Publications vice-chairman V. Vijay Sai Reddy surrendered before a CBI court on Monday as per the High Court orders about a week after he was released on bail. He moved a memo before principal special judge for CBI cases A. Pullaiah requesting that his bail matter be handed over to II additional special judge for CBI cases, who granted him bail earlier.
Mr B. Nagamaruthi Sharma, the then CBI judge, granted bail to Mr Reddy on April 13, but the same was set aside by the HC, which observed that the order didn’t specify valid reasons and asked the CBI court to consider the bail plea again specifying valid reasons. But by the time it came up for hearing on Monday, the judge had been transferred and posted as the II additional special judge for CBI cases.
“The HC set aside lower court order of granting bail, as it couldn’t find reasons in support of bail and only the same judge who granted bail can explain reasons in favour of the bail,’’ argued Vijay Sai Reddy’s senior counsel Susheel Kumar.
