Vijayalakshmi: Politics behind cases on Jagan
Responding to rumours of her party merging into the Congress, YSR Congress leader Y.S. Vijayalakshmi said, “All of you have witnessed the trend in the recently-concluded bypolls in the state, we swept the polls. Where is the necessity for us to join some other party,” .
She reiterated that her son and party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy would soon get bail. “I am hoping that he will be out from jail; he has spent more than 100 days in jail already. As per the rules, after completion of 90 days of judicial custody everyone is entitled to be released on bail, but in my son's case that is not happening. The CBI has failed to prove a single charge against him and all the cases have been foisted on him on political grounds and nothing else,” Ms Vijayalak-shmi said.
On a separate issue, she said that she had demanded that the state government bear the additional burden recently imposed by the Centre on the supply of LPG cylinders just as her late husband YSR had provided relief to all LPG customers across the state. Ms Vijayalakshmi also demanded that the Assembly meet for at least 15 days to deliberate many pending. She said that as an Opposition party, the YSRC was prepared to have Floor coordination with other Opposition parties and added that it appeared that both the ruling Congress and the main opposition Telugu Desam seemed to be determined not to run the Assembly even for five days as both Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and Opposition leader Chandrababu Naidu did not attend the BAC meeting.
