Vijayamma fasts for fee reimbursement

YSR Congress honorary president Y.S. Vijayalakshmi launched a two-day fast on Thursday, demanding full fee reimbursement to all eligible students. She said her party would continue its agitation till the state government relaxed the restrictions.

“How can poor students from backward and economically weaker communities pay the remaining fee in professional colleges, ranging from Rs 15,000 to Rs 75,000?” she asked. She said that the government’s tendency to think of the fee reimbursement scheme as a welfare measure was wrong and this ought to be viewed as human resource development.
