Vimalakka held for attack on three ORR toll booths
Telangana United Front leader Vimalakka was arrested for ransacking the toll plaza on Outer Ring Road on September 29. She and two of her followers were arrested by the Narsingi police on Saturday afternoon near the Cherlapally jail, police said.
Police said that a group of around 25 TUF activists, who came in cars, attacked the toll plaza of Nanakramguda under Narsingi police station limits and ransacked its two counters. “They damaged furniture and computers and set them ablaze,” a police official said.
Rajendranagar ACP A. Mutyam Reddy said that the police has registered cases against the activists including Vimalakka under Section 147 (punishment for rioting), 153 (A) (promoting enmity between different groups), 427 (mischief), 436 (mischief by fire or explosive), 285 (negligent conduct) 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) and 149 of IPC and Section 7 clause 1 of Criminal Law Amendment.
Police said Vimalakka and her aides were produced before Rajendranagar court, and was remanded. Vimalakka was sent to Chanchalguda women’s prison.
A few hours after the attack on September 29, the police had arrested 11 Telangana activists, Narsingi sub-inspector Prabhakar Reddy said.
Recently, Vimalakka was arrested in connection with defacement of Kasu Brahmananda Reddy’s statue near KBR Park in Jubilee Hills. However, the court granted her bail.
