Violence affects commuting
With no means of transport, due to the clashes and subsequent imposition of curfew, it’s commuters who were the worst hit. Two pedestrians who were walking near Reliance World on Saidabad Police station road were hit on the head by a mob which disappeared when the police came to their rescue.
The road on the Santosh Nagar to Chanchalaguda Chowrasta stretch wore a deserted look as the police blocked all roads leading to the area. Traffic was blocked at the IS Sadan chowrasta and at Chanchalaguda chowrasta. The Saidabad police station road and IS Sadan—Chanchalaguda road reminded an emergency with honking patrol vehicles speeding past. A large number of police from South and East Zones and the RAF were deployed on the main roads and at all the important junctions under the Saidabad and Madannapet police station limits. The police was seen making announcements using mikes in Madannapet.
Auto driver still critical
One of the victims of the communal violence who was injured in the attack by miscreants is critical, and is battling for life at the Apollo Hospital. Another person who had come to the Madannapet area to visit his relatives from Guttala Begumpet in Madhapur was also injured. Santoshnagar ACP S. Sai Krishna said, “The autorickshaw driver and a passenger were stabbed. The condition of the autorickshaw driver is critical. The passenger suffered serious injuries.” The autorickshaw driver has knife injuries in the abdomen and chest and the passenger has injuries on the hip and the left shoulder.
