When calamity strikes Naidu takes a break
Telugu Desam president N.Chandrababu Naidu on Monday took a break from his ongoing Vastunna Meekosam padayatra in Mahbubnagar, the second break in just a few days, to visit Krishna district, ravaged by Cyclone Nilam.
Interestingly, Mr Naidu, who had not faced any problems from T-activists till date in Telangana region, has been forced to take three brief breaks from his padayatra, once due to collapse of the podium in Mahbubnagar that left him with a minor back injury, the second time to attend the funeral of his trusted lieutenant and TD leader K. Yerrannaidu and now, due to the floods.
Mr Naidu is among several VVIPs who are making a beeline to the flood-hit coastal districts which could add to the chaos and make relief work difficult for the administration.
The TD chief rushed to Krishna district even as YSR Congress leader Y.S.Vijayalakshmi began her tour of the flood-hit areas.
BJP chief G. Kishan Reddy too left for the affected areas on Monday evening, while Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy will undertake aerial survey on Tuesday.
In Krishna district, Mr Naidu and TD leaders slammed the state government, accusing it of having failed to save life and property. “The Chief Minister and his Cabinet colleagues were busy in Delhi and marriages, leaving the flood-hit people to their fate.
The government should immediately sanction Rs 10,000 per acre as compensation to damaged crops,” he demanded.
The TD chief promised to waive of agricultural loans after the party the returns to power in 2014 elections.
