Why FSA when no supply, asks Harish
TRS leader and Siddipet MLA T. Harish Rao on Sunday flayed the state government for imposing fresh Fuel Surcharge Adjustment on power consumers to the tune of Rs 6,000 crore for the prospective two years while not even supplying the power. Addressing a media conference, Mr Rao said that the government had unilaterally announced a steep increase in the cost of power almost immediately after the Asse-mbly session concluded without taking political parties or consumers into confidence.
He observed that Transco had already raised the burden five times since last year while the Power Regulatory Commission too had not bothered to direct the power utilities to supply power first to consumers. He wondered how, when there was no power supply in a majority of villages, Transco could justify the fresh imposition of FSA and collect thousands of crores of rupees from consumers. The TRS MLA alleged that the government’s and Transco’s errant policies had, over the last few years, put the entire power sector in the state in an irretrievable mess.
