Woman attacks traffic cop for parking penalty
In a surprising incident of road rage, the sales manager of a hotel was arrested on Wednesday for attacking a traffic sub-inspector and a home guard at Ameerpet after she was fined for a parking offence. The driver of Divya Dutta Dubey, 32, sales manager with Marigold, Green Park Hotel, Ameerpet, had parked the Indica car in a “no parking” area at 12.30 pm and was challaned Rs 200 by Rajagopal Reddy, the Panjagutta traffic sub-inspector.
Divya handed over to police by traffic cops
Ms Divya Dutta Dubey’s car driver, Mohammed Mosin, paid the penalty, but she got into an argument with the police for issuing her the challan. “The woman got into an argument with me for collecting the amount. She then tore the challan book. When I asked Mr K. Srinivas Reddy (home guard) to take a picture of her, she immediately caught his collar. When I tried to take a picture of her reaction she scratched me on my face, leaving my cheek and neck bleeding,” said the sub-inspector.
According to the Punjagutta traffic police, Ms Divya was handed over to the Punjagutta police station by the traffic officials. She was arrested at around 3 pm. Mr N. Tirupathi Rao, inspector of Punjagutta police, said, “A case has been booked against Ms Divya under Section 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter a public servant from his duty) and Section 353 (assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from discharging his duty) of IPC.” She will be produced before the court.
