Yadagiri hid cash in puja room loft
The Anti-Corruption Bureau in its remand report has alleged that rowdy-sheeter P. Yadagiri Rao acted as a conduit for bribe money from former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan Reddy’s relatives to the CBI judge T. Pattabhi Rama Rao. The bribe was paid to the judge to grant bail to Gali Janardhan Reddy, accused in the illegal mining case.
“Yadagiri confessed that he received Rs 9.5 crore from MLAs Gali Somasekhar Reddy, T.H. Suresh Babu and G. Dasrath Ram Reddy between May 11 and May 18 in instalments. He said a part of the amount was given to Chalapathi Rao and others and he retained the rest.
Chalapathi Rao, in turn, had paid the accused judge through his son Ravichandra. Yadagiri Rao hid the money in the loft in the puja room,” the ACB said in its remand report. ACB seized four cellphones, a laptop and a new Maruti Swift that Yadagiri had purchased using the bribe money on Tuesday.
Yadagiri confessed that Rs 36 lakh was paid to one Saibaba as consideration for the sale of a plot. Mr Saibaba put the money in fixed deposits in a Secunderabad bank, which he handed over to ACB DSP T. Raghupathi Goud when the ACB informed him of the case. Yadagiri was taken to Osmania Hospital for a medical examination on Tuesday and remanded to judicial custody for 15 days. Meanwhile, the ACB court extended the judicial custody of Pattabhi till July 13. The court adjourned the hearing on the bail petition of Pattabhi Rama Rao, Chalapathi and Ravichandra to July 4.
