Hanuman is a netizen

Lord Hanuman has finally become a netizen. The lord not only has a profile on Facebook but also has a website of his own called www.sankatmochan.org that allows virtual “darshan”. The initiative for this has come from the Lucknow-based Sankat Mochan Temple Trust that runs the famous Hanuman Setu temple on the banks of the Gomti River in the state capital. On Facebook, the Hanuman Garhi temple in Ayodhya has an account that gets hundreds of hits every day.
“We decided to keep up with the changing times and go online with Lord Hanuman. Some devotees gave us this suggestion and the temple trust finally gave the go ahead and we then came up with the website,” says S.L. Kapoor, the temple trust secretary.
The temple trust expects hundreds of netizens to visit the website on Thursday, “Chhoti Diwali”, which is also celebrated as the birthday of Lord Hanuman. The temple authorities are obviously impressed by the Shirdi Sai Baba temple website that not only allows virtual “darshan” but also has facilities for posting prayers online. “The Sankat Mochan temple is also toying with the idea of inviting online prayers. Once the website becomes popular, we may start the facility of posting prayers online. At present, we do get letters for Lord Hanuman that are read out every day before the deity and many people say that their prayers have been answered,” says a trustee.
