‘Ayodhya parties are disappointed’
The concerned parties in the Babri title suit case are sorely disappointed at the deferment of the verdict by the Supreme Court.
Ms Ranjana Agnihotri, counsel for the Akhil Bhartiya Ram Janmabhoomi Purnuddhar Samiti, a defendant in the suit, told reporters here on Thursday that she was “disappointed and unhappy” at the deferment of the decision.
“This is a clear conspiracy to delay the case that has been pending for more than six decades. None of the parties involved in the case wanted deferment and were keen to get the verdict pronounced as early as possible. As for an out-of-court settlement, it is certainly not possible at this stage,” Ms Agnihotri said.
Hari Shankar Jain, counsel for the Hindu Mahasabha, said that he saw no hope for reconciliation at this stage.
“We are not willing to concede the land for the mosque and the other party is equally rigid. In such a situation, where is the hope for reconciliation? The decision to defer the verdict, therefore, serves no purpose,” Mr Jain said.
Counsel for the Central Sunni Waqf Board, Zafaryab Jilani echoed similar sentiments over the issue when he said that the deferment had been done on the petition of a person who was not even a party in the case.
“All the concerned parties have stated that they see no hope for an out-of-court settlement at this stage. Three Prime Ministers and three chief ministers have made efforts and have failed to bring the concerned parties on to the negotiating table. A compromise at this stage is simply out of the question, moreover, we do not have any concrete proposal for resolving the issue either,” he said.
